People of the Revolution

The time leading up to the American Revolution was one that called for strong leaders. With oppression from England and the growing need for independence, the colonists needed strong minded people to lead them in their separation from England.

Many of the men that stepped up to lead the fledgling country were former members of the British government or important military leaders for the British. They saw the need to separate the colonies from England and they led the colonists in the war that would result in that separation.

The leadership qualities that these men displayed can still be applied to situations. These men had strong opinions and were not quiet about them, they were the loudest dissenting voices against the British government. They had an amazing amount of perseverance and dedication to their cause, often fighting several days long battles without retreating until they had no other options. They could easily adapt the any situation that they faced, whether it was a trial defending British troops after the Boston Massacre to leading the Continental Army, from being loyal to the British government to spearheading the Patriot cause for independence these men were adaptable to the needs of their community and the country that they wanted to legitimize.
